yesterday I received your letter about your Bell campaign. Thank you very much.
Last year a member of our parish ask me to toll our bell at 9th August, 11:02 after he talked to some people from Japan. Our electrical bell tolling machine was out of order, so that we climbed the tower of our church an used a hammer to toll.
Unfortunately, today we were not able to let the bell toll for peace in the world and as a sign against a-bombs and war. I am so sorry. But we will pray for you and your aims on Sunday during our worship service.

＊聖カタリナ教会（マグデブルグ郊外・ウオルミルシュテット）
昨年は、日本からの訪問客の頼みで、平和の鐘を鳴らしましたが、丁度この時この教会の鐘の自動装置が故障していました。そこで鐘のある塔に、ハンマーを持って登り、鐘を打ち鳴らしました。今年も準備が間に合わず、残念ながら実行できませんでした。申し訳ありません。しかし、「核なき平和」の目的のために、日曜日にお祈りを致します。

昨年、突然の「平和の鐘」の要請にこたえて下さったドイツハイデルベルグ郊外のウエルミシュテッツの教会に、昨年のお礼を兼ねて今年もよろしくとの手紙を出しました。投函が遅くなって、ぎりぎりに先方へ着いたようですが、メールで今年の「平和の鐘」についてのお返事をいただきました。
高い塔に上り、手動で鐘を撞いて下さったことに感動しました。
